It was so much fun interviewing Rachel Moriarty of Rachel Moriarty Interiors. In our time together, Rachel shared how she made the leap from her corporate banking job and started her interior and lifestyle design business. She gives wonderful insight making the decision to leave knowing the time was right and offers advice for those thinking of doing the same.
During our discussion, Rachel shared how she knew fear was at play in her not leaving her 9-to-5 earlier. Though we often think about fear as the feeling of standing on a high-rise building and looking out the window (my hands start sweating just thinking about it!), fear is a sneaky emotion and can show up for us in different ways such as procrastination, over-planning, over consumption of how-to material. Fear can even show up physically in headaches, sleepiness, aches and pains.
It’s important to recognize the signs of fear when thinking about making changes in our lives. Understanding your individual process is the key to moving forward. Being fearless is a myth and when you are embarking on a new journey, you can expect fear to make an appearance again and again. But knowing this part of growing and expanding can help us break through to what awaits on the other side.
